Good evening, everyone! On behalf of the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce, welcome to our 30th Anniversary and Awards Gala! Thank you all for coming!

It is an honor to serve as the first Chairwoman of the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County. I joined the Board with great enthusiasm, passion and hunger to make a difference. As I entered into my sixth year on the Board and my 2nd year as the Chair of the Board, I looked forward to the challenges AND opportunities the future would bring for our community and the businesses which the Chamber serves. I feel confident that as the year has unfolded we have done our utmost to serve our community to the fullest, and we will continue to do so as we transition gracefully into the next term.

I also want to thank our support ecosystem: The Board of Directors, Advisory Council, Committee Members, Volunteers and Business Members, Community Partners, and especially our Sponsors throughout the years and the Sponsors for the gala tonight. Without any of these pieces, the VACOC puzzle would not be complete.

And of course, without history, we wouldn’t have our present. With that said, I would like to sincerely thank all those who have founded and served for this organization since it was established in 1985, including Dr. Co Pham, Mr. Tony Lam (who is in the audience tonight), Dr. Tam Nguyen, and many, many others.

We now have an opportunity to turn the page. With our current strategic plan, the Chamber will continue to focus its tools, talent, capacities, and resources to advance a “Jobs, Growth, and Opportunity” agenda that we believe will benefit all Vietnamese Americans. We’re going to be a leader in efforts to improve education and training. The Chamber’s agenda is not only local. It is national. And it is global.

We initiated a theme that we like to call “Connect in Commerce” 3 years ago and I would like to reiterate it today.
Connect with us today as we commemorate 40 years of Vietnamese Americans spreading our roots across the nation with stories of striving for success that are uniquely American.
Connect with us today as we celebrate 30 years of connecting local and national Vietnamese American businesses together.
Connect with us today as we recognize excellence in achievement and leadership in our community through the four chamber awardees, each of whom has contributed greatly to the community.

And connect with us today as we reward the VIET Foundation student scholarship recipients for their academic excellence in addition to their 4 C’s: community involvement, compassion in leadership, creativity in a field, and a compelling x-factor.

The promise we have always cherished is that the older generations will leave to the young a stronger, better, and more hopeful community. This is a promise we can still keep and we must keep. But it all comes down to leadership—leadership in our government, leadership in business, and leadership in every sector of Vietnamese American life. Leadership that puts our community and the future first.
Connect with us TODAY!
Thank you and enjoy your evening.
